Visor rank is for U-Boat and surface ship Captains. Non standard but period chinstrap secured by two gilded anchor buttons. Right hand side of chinstrap has small tear to leather where attaches to button. Interior leather sweatband has a tear to front otherwise in good condition. Owner's name to inside of sweatband but difficult to decipher. Overall nice condition. |

Silver wash alloy wreath with three piece national tricolour cockade with black alloy base ,alloy roundel and red wool centre. Blackened patent leather chinstrap with adjustment buckles and sheet metal buttons holding it in place. Vulcanfibre visor with raised lip at front. Cap interior is lined with tan rayon cloth with celluloid diamond complete and intact. Maker details to cloth lining beneath diamond in gilt letters.
The tan leather sweatband is complete but cracked at front centre and corner of visor. Interior of sweatband has stamped Art Regt markings. Several small holes to rear crown of cap and some wear to rear bottom edge beneath waffenfarbe. |

(Code: 2680) | | Named to NCO Eberhard Rottmaier .He trained as clerk and telephone operator and served DEC 41-MAY 45 with Cable Platoons of Fest.Nachr.Stab 8 and till Feb 42 was based in Offenburg in S.W. Germany until being transferred to Western France. After June 44 Normandy invasion the unit returned to the Saar Region of Western Germany .
Included are six documents regarding his stay in France after the war as a POW. His Dogtag with original string attached. A photograph of him with his wife/girlfriend. The Soldbuch dated 12.3.40 is well filled in with passphoto. His Wehrpass is a replacement issued one and dated 29.9.44,the photograph has been removed. Two double sided maps in German language with maps of Dumfries, Durham, Kingston Upon Hull, Lanark and Lancaster. He was entitled to the West Wall medal.

Brought back by a British officer who served in Japan where he was stationed in 1946 as part of the British Occupation Force. |

Original paint remains can still be seen and stamp markings to head. Some rust and light oxidation to head. The handle does move slightly from side to side because one of the four pins which hold the wooden handle in place is missing. Wood shows wear as expected but overall still in good condition.

Front writing translates as 'AIRTIGHT CARTRIDGE BOX' . Internal lid box label translates as '50 Piece Stems for the Projectile 361' .Box in excellent condition with steel closure locking clips in working order.
The Wurfkorper 361 was an attempt to expand capability for the 4 guage flare gun or Leuchtpistole. The M39 Egg grenade was mounted on the muzzle loading projector stem with a propellant and initiation charge located in the stem end with internal wire running to the grenade delay fuze.

Lastly was Johann who fell in Italy on the 26th August 1944. |
